Port Ellen ‘ 79
23 y.o Sherry Cask Signatory (Islay)
This is one of the rare Islay malts as it was closed in 1983. At one time a major contributor to several of the popular blends, that job has now gone to Caol Ila. This Port Ellen expression has a beautiful balance of peat and malt. A big blast of peat at the beginning, followed by a mouth, coating sweet malt taste finishing with a dry dose of white pepper. Enjoy while this limited malt lasts.
